Is it normal that whenever i read out loud, i stop paying attention?

I've always been a very good reader & writer, but whenever I read out loud, I can only speak the words without paying attention to the story. It makes it hard in class because after I'm called to read aloud, I have to go over and reread the part I've just read in my head.
