Is it normal that we have heart pangs?

Well...we are two 18 year old girls and we have pains in our hearts...the literal kind not the kind that wussy girls get when men/boys leave them. So, anyways...one of us gets knifing pains and has to breathe shallowly until the pain subsides and her heart pounds occasionally after not very strenuous stuff like going up the stairs. The other one of us gets random heart pangs and has to breathe deep to get rid of them. Oh, and neither of us is obese or even overweight. The first one has breathing issues sometimes too. Are we normal or are we about to die of atherosclerosis or congenital heart failure or something?

There was a time when I had those "random heart pangs and has to breathe deep to get rid of them". I went to a doctor and found out it was related to stress and anxiety. Anyway you both should seek professional advice

The same thing happens to me on occasion, usually if im really tired though. If you experience the feeling even after being well rested, it could be that you have a problem with your heart that might well effect you in the future, or it could just be a temporary problem due to a lack of a certain vitamin or something of that sort, im no doctor but thats my guess.

Are they really sharp for a little bit and come and go pretty fast? Is it harder to breath when it happens at all?
I get something like that, I'll feel a very sharp pain, then I have to breath slowly for a little bit until it stops, it hurts really bad. Sometimes making me double over. If it's the thing I have, it's actually not even the heart! Just muscles surrounding it, so nothing to worry about. If you look up online sharp pains in heart/chest you should find a lot of stuff on it. If your worried, go to a doctor, those pains can be scary!
