  • Dont they have laws against this? That means pregnant women are rejected because they do not have a bun in the oven.

    • Some employers can discriminate legally. Generally, a private employer who employs less than 15 workers isn't subject to "all" employment discrimination laws. Religious organizations and Native tribes are typically exempt also.

      • Well that is true but religion is another matter. They can not regulate a church because the separation of church and government. So interfering with rules of church would technically be dictating what that religion does. Which is against the rules.

        • Sorry, I just realized I said exempt, I misspoke. They're exempt from some, not all of the laws.

        • Well, yes, they CAN and do in many ways. Once they become an "employer" they are subject to certain employment laws. Religious organizations have some special exceptions that allow them to discriminate based on religious affiliation *sometimes* where other employers couldn't, but they still have to abide by the other employment laws that apply.
