It's normal since you see all the abuse your mom is putting him through. Try talking to him and reassure him that the things your mom says to him aren't true, and also tell him how you feel about him getting remarried. He might be emotionally traumatized since you're saying the situation is making him depressed. My parents are divorced and both of them got remarried to two wonderful people which I both, thank goodness, personally like.
