Is it normal that the console wars make me feel ashamed to be a gamer?

  • Of course~ I think there are plenty to be annoyed about when it comes to being a gamer. I've only recently got my hands on a 360 and I think its great, I just don't like its d-pad for fighting games as it doesn't work as well for those. My PS3 gets more playtime since I had for much much longer and I prefer the way it handles music playback as well as the fact that it doesn't need a subscription to play online. The PSN Store has great games but I get jealous of all the bullet hells on the Xbox Live's downloads that PSN doesn't have. PC is great since it has no limits and lots of people create incredibly fun mods for games that you can't do on consoles. At the same time, you can't just download an MMO and have the best time if your computer isn't a beast and more things can go wrong with games on it.

I don't like Call of Duty fans who can't seem to play anything else and I feel the online depth only demonstrates how to hold L1 and R1/LB and RB for 2 seconds for kills but the games are fun to play so I can understand. My only gamer gripe that I just can't seem to shake is...point and click MMOs! 80% of games are those and I can't stand how you just click, watch your character automatically attack with periodic damage numbers and then spam all your skill squares until the enemies dies. I need my games to play like Elsword, Vindictus, Cosmic Break, Spiral Knights and the like where you have to manually dodge and attack, not watch. I respect those who play them but I just can't do it myself.
