Is it normal that taunting doesn't bother me?

I constantly get shit on at school for being gay, which I've learned to accept as just something that I can't change.
The bullying, not my sexuality. I've known thats something I can't change either.
But back to my point, I try to live by that old saying; "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."
Am I normal? Or am I letting wayyyyy too much slide?
