Is it normal that sometimes i get a strong dislike for sleeping?

My sleeping pattern has been weird for the past months, I'll sleep at normal times, then for a couple days I choose not to sleep because I have an indescribable want to not sleep, then I turn nocturnal and after a couple days I fix my sleep and the cycle continues.

Is this occasional hatred of sleeping normal? Nothing brings it on and it comes and goes without reason. Sometimes I feel like I just don't want to sleep because of nightmares and the hatred of waking up. but I also feel that those are only parts of a bigger problem.

    Insomnia.

Are you female? Sometimes we experience insomnia during extreme hormonal changes.

Are you depressed? Are you stress? Or is there something or someone irritating you but you're helpless to stop it? Sometimes constant disturbances in our moods can cause insomnia.

Then it could be the depression causing your bout of insomnia; check with a doctor to be sure.

It is normal, generally though only when

    A) manic, as in during the bipolar phase where you have lots of energy, confidence, don't sleep, impulsivity...

    B) on stimulants: cocaine, meth, adderall (abused), ritalin (abused), cathinones and any of the other fine research chemicals these days.

    C) withdrawing off of depressants: you've been using heroin, oxycodone, xanax or drinking daily for a long time and just stopped; you probably won't sleep for some time.

    D) severe stress, fear, or recent troubles.

During depression, some people can't sleep during vs. others who sleep all the time. Usually not for days at a time and during depression nobody wants to stay awake.

If you don't do drugs, then welcome to the world of bipolar mania!

I sometimes fear I won't wake up and that puts me in a panic attack. Do you think it is mental? Like your mind keeps you from sleeping? Or is it physical like from maybe stimulants or medication? Do you see a pattern?
