Is it normal that people say my husband only said he wanted kids to..

...get into my pants?

I have been married for almost a year and my husband and I have been together longer than that. He has talking about wanting kids since I have known him and he enjoys spending time with his nieces and nephews. From what I can tell, he genuinely loves and wants children of his own and has even brought up to me the possibility of becoming Foster Parents sometime after we have had our own and has agreed to adopt so long as we can have our own.

However, there have been many occasions in which this subject has come up in my speaking with another man and men sometimes tell me that he only said and did those things to get into my pants. I don't believe it myself, it is contrary to everything I know about it.

Is it normal for people to say this?

  • Ugh. No, it's not normal for people to say that. That's creepy and rude.

  • It's a rather fucked up way to get into someone's pants!

  • Do you really think that he would have married you if all this was true???

It's normal for men to say this because that's how they generally react when we (women) talk about other men with them. They just can't help it.

  • If your husband seems genuine leave it be. If other men are telling you it be because that might be one of their methods or they are trying get in your pants and want you leave your husband. From what you say your husband does not sound like a creep. Men will sometimes do this to manipulate ladies into feeling bad and running off with them. Do not trust these bastards and listen to you husband.

  • Funny. That's actually their way of trying to get into your pants. You know, try to make you question the relationship, cause problems, make you run to them, *poof* their pants are gone.

  • No, that is extremely rude of them! Slap them with your gloves.

  • I think that would be going through an awful lot of effort to get into someone's pants.

If that's all he wanted, I'm sure he could have found a nice girl down at the local bar who really liked free cosmos

  • Well there's no denying that sex is always fun even if it's to have kids but if that's the only reason to have them then I'd be offended if I was a woman. He might be good with kids so I wouldn't completely write him off but to say something like that is disrespectful and is a bad reason to have kids whether you're good with them or not. Maybe he was just having a laugh with his mates but I'd talk to him about it and just ask him upfront if he really wants kids. My dad never wanted kids and he was never a good father to us so this is kind of why I'm saying this to you for your kids sake. It's one thing to be good with other peoples kids for a very short period of time that you see them, but it's another thing bringing up your own flesh and blood. He doesn't sound serious about it so just talk to him.
