Of course it's not fair to judge an entire group by the actions of some of it's members. It's my understanding that most Muslims are peaceful, however, many are not!
There's no way that I or anybody else can tell by looking at or talking to a Muslim which kind you are.
I typed in the search question, "do Muslims advocate violence?" I've copied and pasted the first paragraph from
the first site that came up in response to my question. Here it is;
"The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter."
If you didn't know it before, do you understand now why we're afraid of you?
I didn't say I read the Quran. I said I asked the question and copied and pasted the first answer that came up, which describes what the Quran advocates.
I've read other places that the founder of Islam wrote the entire Quran himself over the course of his lifetime. Toward the beginning of his book he preached peace and love and toward the end of his book he preached intolerance and violence.
His followers can pick whichever part of the Quran they want to follow. Most choose to peacefully coexist with the rest of humanity, and the rest are on a mission to slay or conquer all the infidels (unbelievers).
"There's no way that I or anybody else can tell by looking at or talking to a Muslim which kind you are. "
Well by your logic you might as well say you can't tell what kind of russian/chinese/american person one is and therefore it's right to be afraid of them.
Also, considering it appears that you're judging from the first thing you copied and pasted off a search engine (that quote was from a markedly anti-Islam site ironically called thereligionofpeace.com), it sounds like you have failed to get the first commandment of the internet, and that is to not believe everything you read online. If you haven't read the Quran, how can you judge? Go study Islam and come back before making a judgment. If your point remains unchanged after, then that's your opinion about the religion and you are entitled to it.
Yes this explains perfectly why you are afraid of them, because you bilndly give in to propaganda. Because propaganda is what you just posted.
You read something that someone said on the internet and took it as gospel and posted it as your proof. You have no idea if it is a true statement, and if it is, you have on idea what those 109 actually say, or if Muslims actually follow them.
There are violent things in the Bible too. It tells is to kill homosexuals, it tells us that in some cases rape victims should be put to death, it advocates genocide, I can go on and on. But most Christians and Jews do not follow these things, because religions modernize over time and people don't take these things literally.
So if you would not assume most Christians or most Jews would take every terrible thing in the Bible literally, why would you assume it of Muslims?
I'm not blindly afraid of Muslims. I'm afraid of the ones that follow the Islamic teaching to kill the infidels, and because I can't tell by looking which ones they are, I am concerned about all of them.
In regards to your last paragraph; I never assumed some Muslims are violent. I just listen to the news and presume that most of the time the news is substantially correct. I know we get lied to a lot, so I'm sure some of it isn't. If some of these suicide bombings in the news are true then I am persuaded that some of them are violent.
This isn't a court of law where I have to prove my point. This is a venue where people give their opinions.
I am not telling you to prove your point, and I didn't say you blindly believed Muslims were violent, I said you were blindly following propaganda, and I was refering to the information you cut and pasted off internet.
Because according to you, you looked no further than the first result, you didn't care if it was accurate or not, you didn't fact check it, you didn't care if the source was bias or not. You just cut and pasted whatever it said and said "this is why we fear Muslims". Do you really not see how thay makes you appear completely ignorant?
This is a place for opinions, you are entitled to express yours, and if I am of the opinion that your opinion is based on ignorance, I am entitled to express mine as well.
I copied and pasted the first thing I found because it substantiated what I thought I already know about Islam.
Look, you're probably a nice person. If you were a terrorist or a religious fanatic out to kill infidels I'm sure you wouldn't be on this site wasting your time talking to me. If you were my neighbor or coworker we could easily become friends as we got to know each other to be peaceful people.
Let me ask you, with all the prejudicial sentiment in the air against Muslims, do you ever feel a bit uneasy when you are out in public by yourself among non-Muslims, among Jews and Christians? Do you feel justified feeling uncomfortable around us. Do you think we all hate you? Are you religiously profiling us?
I am not a Muslim, and I'm not the OP. Syaing you grabbed the first unsubstantiated peice of propaganda you could find to fit your world view just confirms that you have given into propaganda. You don't seem especially interested in reasearing the issue yourself. You seem content to just listen to what you hear from others and granting extra credibility to that you information when it confirms what you already think. That type of blind ignorance is how hate and fear spread.
is it normal that people call me terrorist because I am a muslim ?
