I think my parents believed I was gay until I finally started dating at 20. I'm the shy type.
While in high school, my best friend (and next door neighbor) showed up at home one day with a massive hickey on his neck. His overly-strict mother asked me what my parents would do if I ever showed up with a hickey like that.
I replied, "My father would probably shake my hand."
Is it normal that parents think their child is gay?
