Is it normal that parents bring you down?

My parents are bringing me down by saying stuff like "How did you even graduate?" or "Are you born with full moom or something?". They make me feel stupid, like I can never succeed on their expectations. Yesterday I overheard then talking with my uncles and aunts about how stupid we can be sometimes. Is it normal that parents do this?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

It's normal. They are probably just teasing. Ask them if they think what they are saying is ok.

I don't know if it's normal or not, but it's definitely not right.
I'm sorry to hear that your parents do that.

If your parents say something that bothers you, then you should tell them. They should be supporting you, not putting you down.

Forget them. What they're doing isn't right.

Ignore that shit, do well in life and don't share the wealth with them. That'll teach em!

    What's a full moom?

No, it's not normal. How can they expect their offpsring to meet whatever crazy expectations they have despite forcing you into this existence against your will and then put you down all the time?
They are textbook cases of abusers.

    Hey everyone,
Thanks for the great advice you gave me. I talked with them and they say they dont mean it as much as I think they would. My mom just said a few good things about me, I guess I jwas too sensitive? Anyhow thanks for your support because it means a lot to me.

  • They usually do that to make us work harder. It might work or not. My dad was absent and mum didn't raise me. Granny enabled me and when they were all gone I was fucking lost. Balance is the key. Not too much nor too little if you know what I mean.
