This isn't a matter of just having a male friend. This is a woman who met a NEW friend. It is completely inappropriate to exchange numbers unless the married couple agree ahead of time. The reason why everyone responds the same way is because we all (including you) know where these things end. I'd love to hear the ending to the story a year or so from now.
