Is it normal that my wife snores so loudly?

My wife is 5'2" and about 110lbs. But recently she started snoring like a lawnmower. As if that wasn't enough she constantly twitches in her sleep. I think this is because of some medication she started taking around the time this started.

I'm a light sleeper, I've tried earplugs bu I have incredible hearing so I can hear a pin drop across the room even WITH the earplugs.

She is LOUD, our daughter can hear her from her bedroom and will often get up and close her door during the night.

For a while when this started about two years ago, I'd just get up from bed and go sleep on the sofa bed downstairs.

Recently though, since about September last year, she started not coming to bed with me any more except on week-ends. She will pretend to stay up and read but then I wake up around 4AM and she is asleep on the couch with a blanket and some pillows.

Trouble is now, I'm used to sleeping alone and when she does come to bed on week-ends, I don't sleep and now I'm afraid that if I get up and sleep somewhere else she will get angry.

We love each other dearly, we get along well and sex is not an issue. Both of us are rather attractive and clean so I don't know.

Is it normal?

1.check his pillow first and if the size is not right please get him one. not too high not too low.

    2. next suggest him to sleep side ways.

    3. check if the pillow is placed rightly. which means the height of the pillow should start from the shoulder level and the neck and the head should be comfortably resting. fondle with his hair for a while and massage his forehead for few minutes while just lying on right posture. and make a cross on his forehead with your thumb. this will psychologically sooth him.

    4. middle of the night if he starts snoring again check his pillow position and nudge him and tell him to sleep comfortably again the way you taught him.

    5. once in a while suggest him to drink bit of water in the middle of night. that will help nose and mouth to remain hydrated enough.

    6. do not be disheartened and keep doing this for as long as his muscle memories will adopt this new system. then you dont have to worry.

    7. i did this to my husband right after marriage and now i have a peaceful night for myself. i dont have to care that any more. i took care of him the way i would care a new born baby at night. it took one and a half year. The best remedy ever.

people know many things about snoring but they simply miss out the most simplest reason. normally it happens mostly to those people who have or had a habit formed during teenage time- which is sleeping while watching television. they dont realise that they fall asleep in very odd postures which makes breathing difficult. parents dont care to see how their teenager is sleeping after certain age. so this becomes a kind of habit for their muscle system.

learn to sleep in right posture first. if this does not work please consult the doctor. also some yoga in the morning and soothing and relaxing music will definitely help.so now you know why the drinking is bad for snoring.

This has worked on my husband, i hope this will help you too. please do update me and send me feedbacks in my inbox message if this works.

    My best wishes! :)

all kinds of things can contribute to snoring, such as sinus polips (sp?) and such, so maybe she needs to see the doctor.

you sound like you have a good marriage otherwise.

actually, i think sleeping alone is better for a good nights sleep, but many seem to think there is something wrong with a couple if they don't sleep together.
