Is it normal that my supervisor tells me that i am not in the right job?

Anytime I raise a concern with my supervisor, her first response is usually, "Maybe this is not the right job for you." She has said this a few times already, and usually my concerns are small and often in the form of suggestions. I do my work well and perform average-above average compared to my peers. I just don't understand why she would constantly tell me... "it might not be the right place for me."

I don't know if she is indirectly hinting I should leave or simply does not have a solution for any problems that occur during the day.

Is It Normal?

  • She's basically saying that you need to shut the hell up or else she'll fire you. It's a threat.

  • Since she's saying this every time you raise a concern, she's basically dismissing your problem and threatening you at the same time. Not only is your issue not relevant, but if you keep bringing it up, you're going on my list. It's very rude, but not particularly uncommon.

The last thing you said is the truth. She simply does not have any solutions for any problems. That pretty much tells you what you need to know.

  • Just another boss being a dick. I refuse to work for a boss like this that refuses to compromise and can never be pleased. You don't appreciate my labor? well screw you I'll find someone who does. It wouldn't be the first time I've put in my two weeks because of an unsatisfactory boss.

Human lives aren't that long I don't have time for assholes.

  • Yes. He wants you out. Start looking before you get fired.

  • I think she's hinting at something for sure.

  • When she says that the next time say..."Perhaps you are not the right supervisor for this job." And see what she does next.

  • As I said to a similar post, it couldn’t hurt to send out a few applications.
