Is it normal that my son wants to be more like his uncle?

Ok so I just got divorced with my wife and I live with my brother at his house because my exwife took the house. I get to have my son Weekends but it seems like I have him everyday because his mom is alway on a date or working. Anyway, my brother is not the best roll model, he is a player, he sleeps with a differen girls every night, he is an alcoholic and has a gambling problem. I have no idea why my son wants to be like him, like ok its fine he doesn't want to be like me, I know this because my son said he doesn't want to be a loser like me wish it hurts. All I want my son is to be a respected man and not a real loser. Is it normal that my son wants to be like his uncle? or is it not healthy? or is this happening because of the divorce?

Is It Normal?

  • I think your reaction is normal. Depending on your son's age you should take him to a church if possible or hang out with some "nice" people so that your son can see whom you respect and he might respect that nicer way of life.

Also you need to make sure you dont do things you dont want your son to do such as drinking or being promiscuous, you need to be a good role model. And of course maybe you should move out of your brother's house.

  • He stopped seeing you as the strongest person in the world. Like the lil' kids. He's just searching for another role model, which is good because he will see what happens when you behave in sertain ways.

I just realized I have pretty deep thoughts.

  • did you take this straight from the show Two & A Half Men? if not, why dont you just move out so you dont have to expose your son to that kind of behaviour. its a pretty simple solution if you just thought about it.
