I am saying this concept works to make the perp more Empathetic unless we are talking about Psychopaths since Psychopaths cant Empathize and do not learn from punishment.
This is how it works in a normal person:
I performed an action and it had a negative reaction so I should stop doing it
Now if your attacking a key component of the personality they become self loathing
Also for those who lack perspective its a wake up call. Gee this hurts maybe I should not do that to people since this is what it feels like.
(The saying treat others how you want to be treated)
How it works in a psychopathic person
I performed this task and it had a negative reaction, so I should make sure I dont get caught doing this action again. Their brains dont necessarily process (Maybe I should stop this) or (Maybe this action is hurting other people so it would be better to quit)
I always had a concept about what it would feel like so I usually didn't act out. I also had a fear that what I did would somehow come back to me later in some way so I avoided doing that as well. Some people do not learn things the easy way and sometimes the best way to teach is giving them an Example.
You've left out some far more common responses, in my experience, such as: H/she's bigger & stronger than me so it must be ok to hit people smaller and weaker OR Well I'll make sure I don't get caught next time, I'll lie or blame someone else and then maybe I won't get hit, especially if I get really good at lying
Is It Normal That My Son Slaps Teachers And Gets Away With It?
