I have this problem with my older brother. At 30 years old, he's still a vile arsehole and not worth giving the time of day. Unfortunately you can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends. Concerning your sister, I wouldn't bother being nice to her except the barest minimum to get along in the house. If she's anything like my brother, your good will is just being wasted. Be nice to those who deserve it, because really, if she wasn't your sister, would you tolerate being nice to somebody who hates your guts?
