Is it normal that my sister-in-law makes me upset?

She doesn't do anything to me, but this is her lifestyle:

She never went to college, never worked, doesn't work.

Every day she sleeps in, wakes up and then chooses what she wants to do with her husbands money. She'll do anything from going on a shopping rampage to playing video games. Sometimes she'll even book a plane to another state to meet a friend and spend a month there.

He isn't wealthy, either. He makes $40,000 a year. They own one car because she claims they can't afford another, but she just bought 2 dogs and a new living room set. They live in an apartment building, but its a huge apartment and he gets it for free because hes in the military. Yes, he does have to go away for months on end every other year or so, but still.

Her life is like a dream. I'm stuck working my bum off 5 days a week and I can barely afford my current apartment as its not free and its expensive where I live. I know I'll never get time off until I'm in my 60s because that's how the law works while she has a vacation every single day of her life and has had this for the past 5 years.

Sometimes I see her status on facebook where she writes "so much work to do, have to clean the bathroom and living room before relatives come over then make cookies" - for me, I have to work and clean always as my husband works even longer hours than me. I don't know what to do anymore- I'm falling apart.

I just want to be happy, but when I see or hear from her, I want to die.

IIN?

Is It Normal?

  • your jealousy is making you miserable. the only thing you can work on or change is yourself.

  • its natural you feel this way, your only human, but you must have pride in yourself because you did it all yourself. get rid of the bitterness it will only be worse for you

  • well if her husband doesnt have a problem with this then why do you? stop being jealous and live your own life.

    • You don't have to be so rude and immature. If I could stop being jealous and be happy, don't you think I would? How awful of a response.

  • Aussiewolf put it bluntly, but I agree with her:
You seem EXTREMELY jealous, and you should try to mind your own business if you truly do want to find real happiness.

    • I do, but she's always there.. I can't really avoid her as shes family, you know? If she were a friend, I wouldn't care but she's always in my life or so it seems.
