  • It might be a legend or a superstition, but it has a basis in reality. A dead body might decay and release harmful substances, so it makes sense that a culture belief that "pregnant woman + corpse nearby = bad", no matter the circumstances.

My country (Poland) is super Catholic, so every church has a bone/tooth/bit of blood/foreskin of some random saint. People come in, kneel, rub their clothes on it etc.

      • Yeah, and people here believe that, for example, if you find a church that has a box with bloodied clothes of this saint, if you rub a bottle of water on this box and drink it, you will have better eyesight/happier marriage/demons will GTFO, depending on a saint.

Or if you kneel in front of a box with saint's bone and pray (a different prayer for every saint), also some good shit will happen.

It's a bit creepy at times, but hey, culture.

On a less fucked up note, Polish people also believe that if you see a guy who cleans chimneys, you should touch any random button on your clothes, bc it will bring you luck.
