Is it normal that my parents both have blue eyes but i have brown?

As the title suggests, I have brown eyes but both of my parents have blue.
Maybe it’s some sort of rare deformity, or maybe the genes were somehow mixed up, but I ended up with different eyes than my parents. Different than my siblings for that matter. I've recently been very confused about this and nobody around me seems to know why.

You can have brown eyes children from blue eyed parents. Blue eyes are actually be from two types of genes both effecting whether or not you have pigment in your eye (as blue is lack of most pigment) now your parents while them both having blue eyes could have non dominant brown eye genes that have affected your own eyes. It's somewhat rare but its documentated.

The chances of it being a randomized genetic mutation are extremely slim.

Its not that rare, blue eyes are a recessive gene

I havent taken a biology course in four years. I knew It could happen but i couldn't pin down the rarity.

Same I had to look it up, but figured it must be pretty common since it happened in both sides of my family

you are adopted, if both parents have blue eyes its impossible to have a son with dark eyes, same thing with skin, but the opposite can happen, if both parents have dark eyes they can have a blue eyes son, and if they have dark skin they can have a light skin son
    Genetics is easy

Most of my family has blue eyes and the rest of my family has brown but I have green eyes. No one else has green eyes in my family and I know I'm not adopted so idk.

Sounds like a mixup at the hospital. Either that, or you're a love child.

  • My cousin and her husband have brown eyes but had one kid with bright blue eyes. Which seemed odd. But almost everyone in my family have blue so although browns more dominant maybe the blue genes took over from the rest the family if that’s even how it works.

It's a lot more common for two parents having brown eyes to have a kid with blue eyes than the other way around, but it does happen.

It's just luck of the draw. If you really want blue eyes, just wear blue eye contacts.

I think it's pretty common biologically for brown to overtake blue but I cant really explain why, something to do with dominant and recessive genes and blue is "weaker". All 4 of my grandparents had blue eyes but both my parents have brown

I heard that too. I was also told brown eyes are the most common and pretty much come from anyone while other colors are just genetic mutations that can get passed down but less likely. I kinda wish I had blue eyes. Everyone in my family has brown like mine. Lol

Or get eye surgery to burn off the extra melonin in your eye.
