It's normal of them to be scared of seeing their little girl growing and starting to date guys, but it's not normal of them to yell at you for it.
Have a nice long talk with them and start asserting yourself as a woman -which you now are as a 17 years old- and tell them that you're not doing anything stupid, you're just having a friend over for a movie night.
Though on an unrelated note: "Movie-cuddle-sleepover" with a friend is a good way to make him fall for you if it's not already the case.
Good luck with that, talk to them, I'm sure they're reasonable. (though it might take some time to get them convinced you are mature enough)
Is it normal that my parents are really strict when it comes to boys?
