Maybe your mother isn't as literate as you are. Maybe your writing is at a level she can't fully relate to, or maybe she's just not a really deep thinker. My mom never reads any of my pieces, either. She refuses to do it, and she knows I value her opinion. I think she's afraid she won't understand it fully or be able to comment articulately. It's also possible that your mother is jealous of your talent and she avoids reading your work because she doesn't want that jealousy to come out and rear its ugly head (which may be for the best.) It's not normal, but I wouldn't get so worked up about it. There is a whole world full of educated people who can read and critique your pieces for you.

I agree. She maybe doing that because she is afraid she'll hurt your feelings for not knowing the best way to comment on your writings.
