Acid can give you a very spiritual, life-altering experience. Most people describe it as enlightening. They also feel sorry for anyone who has never tried it because their perception on life changed forever, most times in a very positive way. That is why people use psychedelics.
Acid will not kill you. It has no real physical effects. They are all psychological. The stigma surrounding this drug is so invalid compared to the other shit out there eg. heroin, crack.
