Well, most people that have at least some idea of how relationships work, already know this is inappropriate and will cause problems. Most people would not tolerate their boyfriend/girlfriend spending the night alone with a person of the opposite sex. Especially if they don't trust said person. That's just asking for trouble.
You would have to be a complete idiot to not be a little bit suspicious. Obviously, it's important to trust your mate, everyone knows that. However, to expect you to fully trust her in a situation like you describe, is down right unreasonable.
