I'm a girl. I haven't ever had a situation like this but I do understand what your girlfriend means by wanting some time on her own. Let her have this time; everyone needs time to think things through in their lives. Don't be pushy or impatient because this is very important to her. Maybe use this time to think things through yourself too. It's good to do this now because it would be even more painful if you stayed together for even longer and she had to break it off to think things through. It might take her even longer to think too. What she's doing is very mature. I'm not saying that this is the end for you two; in my opinion she's doing this to see if she can make her relationship with you better.
