I can relate because I dislike being called up, since texting is so much easier and takes less effort to say the same thing. Also it leaves you to do what you please and answer when you feel like it. Maybe she just dislikes talking (maybe she doesn't think she communicates as well as she likes) and prefers the liberty and ease of texting. Also maybe she thinks now that you're so close you wouldn't mind so much that sometimes she doesn't pick up. Maybe now she just feels comfortable and wants to act with less inhibitions on her behavior.
Personally, when I feel embarrassed or like I don't have the means to talk to someone on the phone at that moment I decline the call, but I only do it with people I know will always get back to me and that I trust (:
