Girls like attention.. when you are single they get plenty....when you aren't single the attention they are used to isn't there....therfore, they try whatever they can to get it....
Do not mistake this for real attraction, because if they wanted you they would have pursued it before... Women just get this competive need to "prove they can" have you, if they wanted... It is the same as how guys will act macho and fight over nothing... just to prove they are "alpha" or superior.
It is an ego boost... and most enjoy a good competive challenge/game.
