Is it normal that my friends are self-centered?

Though college and high school, I was always a little immature and very stressed because of events in my life and because of family problems. Now that school is done and I have time to reflect, I notice that almost all of my friends are mean, self-centered, and bratty. Many of them are sheltered and are prone to saying things that cut me and others down. They have no self-confindence, and they often lack empathy. Is it normal that I find myself in this situation? There are extremely few friends that I consider worth my time. It's a very lonely experience.

Yeah, that's why I cut away all of my "friends" from that period. I couldn't take it anymore.

it's normal to outgrow your friends. as time goes on, you will find that you may have many acquaintences, but only a handful of real friends.
