My husband and I have a small chihuahua and he complains that I spoil him (the puppy) too much. I don't care, though. I don't overfeed him or feed him too much of anything that might jeopardize his health. We both take him for walks regularly and get him checked the vet.
I think he deserves to be spoiled. He doesn't have a lot of the luxuries or entertainment we do, like the internet, music, or being able to communicate with others like us humans can communicate with others. I can only imagine how lonely he must get so I try to give him all the love, cuddles, warmth, attention and affection he can get.
I always get him to sit / sleep on my lap while I'm on the computer and he sleeps in bed with me under the covers with his body snuggled up to mine.
I have wool sweaters for him to keep him warm during winter and am even contemplating buying him some nice, comfortable, warm shoes.
Even though he's very small and I refer to him as my "puppy", he is actually 11 years old now so I want to make the rest of his senior years as loving, warm and comfortable as possible.
Incidentally, we both share the same birthday. November 20th. ^.^
Is it normal that my dog is spoiled rotten?
