Is it normal that my dad smokes weed all day?

My dad smokes weed, all day everyday. He doesn't have a job , hasn't in 12 years , and lives off my mom. He's a failed musician/producer and is trying to make a korean pop star with his other failed , homeless , meth addict friend. The brilliant Korean pop star idea sprouted from his obsession with Asian culture. He's Mexican , straight out of east la. Anyways , he says its his medicine , and claims it heals his back. It makes me wonder if everyone with back , or hip pain are stoners. Anyways , is all this normal?

    This behaviour is completely normal especially in the field your father works in, but it is great for him that he has not yet given up on his dreams although by now his priorities should have changed

    The weed-smoking is normal, but his lifestyle is not normal. [Not all marijuana users live like that.] He really needs to get his shit together and come up with a real plan to support the family that he created, instead of focusing his energy on a failed dream.

    It is a medicine. The most modern and effective medicine to treat pain without the damned life ruining side affects. It's perfectly fine to smoke all day to cure pain but the rest of that stuff doesn't sound cool. If his actions bother you talk to him or someone you know about it.
