  • I don't get it, what's wrong with getting a baby at 27? And if any girl wants to have a child it's her choice, it doesn't have anything to do with getting married. A lot of marriages end up in divorce anyway and the dad usually disappears leaving the mom alone to do both roles. So, wether they want it or not, most women will be single parents in the future, that doesn't mean they shouldn't have babies.
Granted that having both parents will definitely benefit the child, it's not a rule for bringing one up, there are a lot of orphan children who's life's could really be changed for the better by having one parent.

  • My parents were 25 when I was born, and 30 when my little brother was born. Twenty seven is quite a normal age to have babies, I am not sure what is wrong with that?

Only in today's society where we idolize 16 year old kids who can't figure out how to use condoms, would 27 be considered old for children!I am half convinced the apocalypse really is coming every time I turn on MTV lolz.

Oh, and don't use the term "dar dar babies". It is demeaning to children born with mental handicaps, and it makes you sound like you are in the 7th grade.

  • I'm lost are you saying 27 is too young to have a baby?
I'm 23 now and I plan on having my 1st when I'm 25 and my gf is 23.
But then again I mess around with a lot of chemicals for a living so I've got to get in while my swimmers are still strong.

  • Would she not be better having some commitment from the father first? Sounds a bit daft to me that she would want to be a single parent!

They're bloody hard work and expensive! If they've been going out any less than 3 years, there's more than a 50% chance they'll split up in the future.

FYI most Down Syndrome children are born to people under 40 but they don't check for it and you do have a slightly increased risk over 40. God forgive her!! My sister asked what I would do if I had a ginger haired child, I'd have to get the hair dye out. She went on to have THREE carrot tops while my son is blond!

  • Dar dar? Never heard that term before...
And she shouldn't be worried, she'll still be fertile for 10+ more years.

    • And, like bumblecreek said, the risk of having a down syndrome baby won't increase until she's 40+

  • She's at the age and her biological clock is ticking. It's normal.

  • 27 is a very acceptable age to have children. for the babies to be "dar dar" like you said, the mother would have to be at least 40.
