9 is pretty old to still be breastfeeding. The weaning age for humans technically is 2 to 5 years old, but most people wean their children much younger than that. Personally I wouldn't before 2 years if I were to breastfeed. :x
But by 9 you should be pretty much off it.. it's not necessarily wrong, just a bit unusual. You'd have to know far more about the parenting and the child to really get an idea if this was effecting him negatively or not.

I completely agree it's unusual but I definitely don't see anything wrong in a lady still breastfeeding her nine year old
