Is it normal that my boyfriends mother copies me?

Ever since I moved in with my boyfriends family (we have been together for many years and plan to get married soon) his mother copies me so much that it's really weird and annoying. Every time after I go food shopping I find our shelves ransacked and then she buys the same stuff. She goes through my toiletries and copied my exact shampoo, conditioner and body wash. (btw she never used conditioner in her life before I moved in) She doesn't even like rice but I make rice so does she. I make eggplant so does she... You get the general idea. It's really weird. Even places that we go, and things that we do get copied. It has become like a huge joke between my boyfriend and I like whenever there is something that she copies we freak out. I'm sure she does this because she is very jealous and has an attitude of well if she has it than I want it too. Or if they get to go there I want to go too but it's seriously really weird. So IIN?

      You sound like the mother who’s still letting their son s**k on their t*t. This isn’t normal. The mother is trying to copy this woman and be like her because she’s the person her son has an interest in. It’s an obsessive disorder. Clearly this MIL didn’t or doesn’t get enough love from her parents or her spouse and she’s trying to find it by acting like her sons S/O. You sound gross and I’m assuming you’re also a “MIL Problem” on this website :)

    I do not believe she does this to either copy or anoy you.

    Perhaps she is doing it to make you feel more like home and welcome.

    Imitation is the greatest compliment. She clearly likes you and what you think is copying is actually her making sure you are happy and comfortable. You should be grateful she sounds like a nice lady . If making rice and using the same face cream as you is her biggest downfall you have got it made as far as in
    -laws go! ... At least you have a back up supply of all the things you like.... Or you could always move out of her house if its that unbearable

    This is why you need to move out and not live with family. You need to start your own life and live completely on your own. The world is expensive, but with 2 people contributing to the income you can get a decent place to start and build your life.

    In reference to the mother, I dont think she is doing it to annoy you, she either A: is socially handicap and is finally seeing that there is another way of doing things, or B: She is really attached to her son and if her son likes you, then she is copying you so her son likes her again.

    That is strange, but fixable. She didn't even know about conditioner? Does your man have a sister? If not you might be her one woman connection to this decade. She might feel the need to modernize or get to know you better before the wedding.

    I think you should hang out with your fiance's mother. Get her to act herself. She's going to be an in-law soon, you should really spend time with her. Your fiance should also spend time with your parents.
