My boyfriend and I do the same thing, except it should definitely not leave a mark! When we first started including that in our make outs, he sucked a little hard and rough too, no where leaving a lip hickey, but it did hurt a little. Just mention it softy. Try and tell him to try that much, much softer. I would try that first, and if you really don't like it at all, even soft, just let him know. You really should give it it's fair chance though, when done gently enough it's amazing.
