Is it normal that my boyfriend needs space?

I'm usually with my boyfriend almost every single day, the only time when I'm not with him is when he's sleeping all day long or at work. Sometimes on the weekends if I'm with him all weekend he gets grouchy, and although he doesn't ask me to go back to my house I usually find that being away from him for a few hours restores his good mood, and it makes me feel better too. Is that normal?

I disagree with the commentators who say he's not worth it. It's not even about being a man. It's about being a human being. I had a very long relationship that consisted of spending every single free moment with each other. It's stifling! It's suffocating! I loved her to death and enjoyed being around her and with her but there comes a point in time when the scenery, the conversation, the mood, and the social aspect needs freshening. It's for the best. We are all individuals; just because he may not want to spend every free waking moment with you does NOT mean he doesn't live you or want to be with you. The lack of individuality is the primary reason the relationship I spoke of ended. Take it from a guy who has been there. Best of luck! :)

    Jeez give eachother some space.
And people saying he's a loser are idiots -.-
It's not good to be around someone 24/7, things get monotanous and no wonder he can get grouchy sometimes. You should both have separate friends you hang out with too just to keep things fresh and different. Don't see eachother as much and you'll see an improvement all over.
Me and my gf were together for 2 years and split up because we saw eachother basically every day. It got to be too much for both of us so we split up for a few months. We both agree now its the best thing we could've done for our relationship and we love eachother more than ever. I can't wait to see her every time now :)

He just has a slightly more independent personality type than you. It's completely normal for him, if you love him you'll respect that even though it's not what you would choose. It's hard I'm the same way as you, I'm pretty dependent on my partners approval/affection for comfort in the relationship and I would spend every waking moment with my girl if she wanted to as well.

If you spend every waking hout attached to each others assholes, it's not uncommon for one or both individuals to get a little annoyed at the other. It's healthy to have some ME or YOU time away from the other.

100% normal. Everyone needs some time to themself. Even when you eventually move in with someone, youll find different parts of the day or times when you just need to relax & be alone. Even if youre tech together in the house at the same time. I read or draw, & my fiance will work on his hobbies. Its normal, dont worry :)

Perfectly. I doubt that anyone could stand one person with them, day and night

  • Sounds like a loser to me. If he doesn't like being around you all the time then move on.
