Not often I find myself disagreeing with so many people, but I understand why you were upset. If it was said in an attempt to be witty, then fair enough - past girlfriends and I often teased each other, but it was always understood we didn't actually really feel that way.
You didn't say your boyfriend was kidding, so I'm guessing he wasn't. Generally we expect the people we're with to support us, love us, nurture us and what he said doesn't seem much like those things. Especially considering how it's made you feel.
While I agree you may have been a bit sensitive, I can see why you'd react this way.
