He is doing you a favor. You're too young to tie yourself down, and all those post-break-up things you went through are totally normal. And he has already made his decision so diffidently don't hold on because you'll just keep hurting yourself. He doesn't get to go between the two of you every time he thinks its not going to work with his current girlfriend.
The same thing happened to me the year I went to college. My boyfriend broke up with me and the very next day he was with someone else...on Valentine's Day lol.
