I agree completely and I myself am a teenager. The problem lies within the parents, as you said. I've been noticing that a lot of adults, now parents, grew up in a harsh time when the economy was in a turmoil. They worked hard and achieved their dreams because of the hardships they faced. Most kids don't have the same hardships their parents faced, instead they have Ipods and luxuries. Maybe their parents are trying to give their kids what they never had, it's just that they didn't expect their kids to become spoiled teenagers who don't appreciate how hard their parents have worked. If kids maybe got a glimpse of what their parents had to go through, then maybe they wouldn't be as bad or materialistic.
is it normal that most all teenagers are little jerks?
