Is it normal that mom and dad tell a 34 year old son how to dress?
mom and dad tell me how to dress and what to wear and that i look like a bum out off the street because of what I wear; that's not a problem if I am a minor but I am 34 years old!

do you live with them still? If you are, and living off them, then it's not a lot to put out to dress as they request in exchange, is it?
However if they don't support you then I'd be prone to put a stop to that shit pretty damn quick. How did it get to this point, anyway? You should have stopped it when you turned 21!
long story man; I am indian and it must be a cultural thing. I can't think of any other man american or international that is told how to dress and criticized like if I got black pants on and a white shirt it matches; my mom will say it doesnt and will criticize me that I look like a bum. This is a regular thing she does ocassionally.
I hope that your parents are saying this out of concern for you. But, I know a lot of parents would say this out of pure narcissism. Some parents are more concerned with what other people think about them than what you think or feel. That being said, if, if, they are paying your way you should do as they ask. If you pay your own way than do what you want. It's your body, your life. I personally won't wear any think that has a logo on it. And I, tend to stay in the darker colors red, purple, dark blues, and black (Yes I know is not a color).
It's not weird. Maybe you do dress like a bum? I dunno. They're your parents so age has nothing to do with it. My parents once told my aunt that she needed more perfume or deodorant because she smelt like cheese LOL. If you look like a bum, try to see where they're coming from?
