You're right, a lot of Arab men do act like that, and it has to with culture and the way they were raised. Actually, a lot of "old world" men are like that.
There's really nothing good you can do. These men are like five year olds, they constantly need their ego stroked. You might be able to speak to an Arab woman and see how she would handle the situation.
