I hope you remain as patient as you have been, and you shouldn't feel shame in crying. When you feel the need to let it out, let it out in peaceful ways, like how you are doing now. Don't ever let your bottled feelings turn into anger or violence, like your father's behavior, for example.
Just take in comfort that you may one day be able to stand on your own two feet and live your own life without such a bad model of a father, and that there are many others you can relate to and share experiences with.
