  • Even though I don't know exactly how she said it, I would say, it is understandable, that you feel hurt.

From what you describe, I can't tell if it was said with a loud voice and an intention to make everyone know that she felt that your sister is more religious than you; or if it was said as a natural part of a conversation.

If the first is true, that would seem like a weird thing to, and the criticizing nature make it hurtful.

If the second is true, keep in mind, that a your mom is also a person, and, as a person, has perceptions of things. It may seem to her that your sister is more religious, simply because she seems to be more religious. In the same way, some person at your church may have some perception of who seems more religious of the two of you, if you ask them.
Maybe, it would have been smarter for her not to have said, but she may have just voiced her perception of things.

Also, make sure to judge yourself by other things than your degree of religiousness.

    • Yeah she just told everyone like what you said to intentionally make everyone hear it. Everyone else was fine with it except me. I got pissed off because it sounded like she insulted my involvment in religion.
