  • Look up information on the effects of alcoholic parents on children. It is normal to "freak out" due to your ability to predict problems. To relate this to your boyfriend's response need more information.

Early twenties vs. late twenties is a big difference. Reasoning on living at home and poor communication can also be for various reasons. Give us some more feedback on it. Can make a world of difference.

My own story is similar but I am the boyfriend. Frankly I don't trust her she lives in a mental bubble. I believe it is to protect herself emotionally from the world. This likely started due to her father's intense drinking habits at home.

I am in the same spot but as the boyfriend.
-In my mid 20's living at home saving with a great job.
-Have tons of friends but prefer to stay in and read.
-When I go out drinking things get out of hand.
-Well educated and bored easy by mundane. 'OMG this band is playing and this TV show blah blah blah'

    Issues between us:
-She shuts down about real world topics
-Does not plan for the future.
-Does not seriously take my advice on important cases.
-She lives at home, works and makes me feel like I am dating someone in high school again.
-I have sat down with friends at school for 3 hour conversations. Can barely hold one with her for 30 minutes anymore due to restricted thinking.

So why do I stay with her? She is moral, well educated, funny, and is beautiful. Just mentally 16 while I feel 40 sometimes.

Analyze your situation break it down and see how he responds. Sometimes they are just reacting/mirroring your behavior. With the right conversation you won't have enough time to finish it.
