You seem intelligent, so if your common sense and maternal instinct are telling you something is not good for baby, then there is a safe bet all will be okay. ;) gosh that nurse is nuts!!! Acting as if there is some crazy mutant viral epidemic among us!!! She should have told you to sit tight at home permanently with baby, in a confined room wearing biohazard suits!!!
