Is it normal that im 18 and don't know what career path i want?

I'm currently in my first year of University right now in England doing Illustration and Graphics. I'm not very confident in my skills, I can't draw very well, I don't know how to use Photoshop, Illustrator etc much and I feel like I'm only here because being creative is the only thing I was ever good at and have ever enjoyed. I wan't to support my family some day financially so I want a good paying job. However, I can't see this course making me an earning, or am'I just being overly paranoid and worried about my future?

I've only been in University for a month. Should I stay a little bit longer or just drop out? I don't know what to do :( I'm 18 years old and I don't want to disappoint my parents. I have an interest with working with property, maybe as an estate agent or a property developer.

Is It Normal?

  • Stay and figure things out. It's normal to not be sure.. at any age.

  • 1) You're at the start of college. You're not SUPPOSED to be good at it yet. That's what college is for.

    2) Look around at other possible career paths, things you've never considered before, things that you don't know if you'd be good at. Something might strike you.

  • It's normal to not know what to do, but that doesn't mean it's good. I'd recommend at least trying to figure your life out. I've always known that I want to make software, but really I should have had some sort of fallback at least, I'm still unemployed at the moment
