Is it normal that ideal beauty is "eurocentric"?

I've been discriminated against my entire life and I'm Asian American. I'm wanting to know or confirm if people are attracted to those ethnic minorities who have more "European" facial features? I've recently discovered that I have pronounced Aboriginal or African features in my face yet my skin and hair make me distinctly Asian.

I'm half-Asian (my mother is Japanese) and I can honestly say that I'd rather be completely Asian. No one I know discriminates against any of my family on either side, and no one seems to prefer any of my white/blonde friends. I suppose it depends on circumstance. I'm sure there are plenty of neighborhoods that do prefer white features and hair, but where I live, everything is pretty much liked equally. It's something that can't be summed up all in one specific story.

Thank you. And while genetic longings can't be summed up, an overwhelming amount of reconstructive procedures are preformed on Asian women each year--actually, they occupy the most prominent demographic when it comes to "plastic surgery".

Best advice OP? If you want to feel beautiful, turn off the TV, iTouch, Youtube, etc, or anything that would have you believe through shallow visual perception that Euroethnicites are supreme. Start looking at the placement of "colored" people in adds. Look at the roles they play in shows and movies. Do these things before you turn that shit OFF :)

Really, I think there's a subconscious global dialogue being generally massaged by the media into people's temporal lobes. You are beautiful. We are beautiful. The only ugly people are the ones who thrive on making the whole of us feel insecure in some ways or others.

I'm attracted to Asians. Why they are considered sex symbols in America is beyond me. Americans with euro-centric looks do nothing for me. Instead, I prefer straight of the boat Europeans.

Beauty isn't Eurocentric; you're just in the wrong market.

Be the change you want to see in the world. Don't hate yourself for who you are! No one can dictate to you whether or not you're beautiful, or what their interpretation of beauty is. Take pride in who you are and where you came from. As for who people are attracted to, that's a personal preference... you're perfect the way you are, don't let society make you think otherwise.
