Is it normal that i would rather not have sex than use a condom?

I find that I usually lose my erection or just don't like the feeling of a condom, so if me and a girl are hooking up, I'd rather just do oral stuff than have sex... If she isn't on birth control.

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I agree completely...and to everyone touting stds, I've been sexually active for 27 years and never contracted one.
No point of even having sex if theres a piece of plastic robbing the intimacy of the experience between two people imo.

  • Yeah I really don't find stds to be that common... I agree that sometimes really good oral is better than so-so sex

  • I think it is normal. Moreover, oral sex is great. Personally I´d prefer good oral sex or handjob to "not-so-good" sexual intercourse (coitus). And condoms can sometimes be the reason why it does not feel so good. In my case, when I use condoms with my partner, we use only condoms that are sold under the label "extra-thin" or "sensitive", "ultra-thin" etc...they are more user-friendly.

  • I don't use condoms , nobody I know uses condoms and strangely nobody I know have any STDs. The only time I wear one is if I'm bumming somebody.

  • But if she is, you go for it? :-S how're the STD's?

  • This isn't unusual. Some men just don't feel the same amount of pleasure through a condom.

  • I have heard that a lot of men losing their erection because of condoms. It is normal. But you cannot go sleeping around without a condom. She may be protected from pregnancy, but what about STI's/STD's? They can cause you, or her, a lot of trouble.
I think you either use a condom or you forever have to settle into stable relationships when both of you are tested and know you are both clean. You cannot spread your oats without using condoms.

    • But is that not the point of the question? The OP is saying that, rather than hunting for strange and needing a condom, they would rather just be with someone that they trusted enough to fly free with.

      • They never mentioned about being with someone they trusted. Not even a hint. But in all fairness, they didn't say anything about sleeping around with strangers either, which I have nothing against as long as condoms are used.
He just used the term "hooking up". I don't know what country you are from, and I know it's an American term but over here, hooking up pretty much means sleeping around.
I think what I said is due to misinterpretation on misunderstanding of slang terms.

        • I can concede that we may have interpreted the question differently. I am from the US as well and I have heard "hooking up" used both ways - sleeping around and committed relationships having intercourse - granted I am in the south where what is said very rarely has any bearing on what was meant. I will also concede, after a second reading, that the OP did not really make himself clear.

          • What I meant was that if I'm about to get with a girl, and she has expressed to me that she isn't on birth control, I'd rather not have sex. I realize there are flaws with birth control, but still. Std's are not that common here, I live in a relatively small southern town.

  • you have tried the wrong ones perhaps.
I tried many many different types and yes there some that takes all my pleasure away, but there are good ones as well. Durex Extra Sensitive (or Elite for EU users) condoms are the bests so far or this one maybe:

Anyway, you have to look at sex in a different perspective and you will not lose your erection.
