Is it normal that i won't settle for anything less than perfection?

I do give them a chance.

But no matter how well they treat me, how nice, funny or handsome they are or what a great personality they have I always find flaws. Even the tiniest of flaws make me incredibly annoyed and disgusted until I end up hating them for it.

The weird thing is I can still see they're good guys and that I should stick by them I just can't help but push them away. It's almost as if I won't settle for anything less than the specific image of the boyfriend I want. Because of this I obviously haven't been able to have a steady relationship.

Does anyone else feel this way? Did you manage to get over it and if so, how?

  • Not accepting anything short of perfection is a flaw within itself.

  • To be human is to be imperfect.

    Are you perfect?

    You can only answer no.

No man can be perfect either.

    • I know I'm not perfect and no one can be perfect but that doesn't stop me from disliking all men that aren't.

  • Lol at all the nobodys perfect comments. You said that the only time you have problems with this is with boyfriends. So when it comes to friends you accept their flaws right? Maybe you can find a way to pass that same good trait about yourself onto your partner. Aka figure out what part of you can just pass off your friends flaws and try to apply it to a relationship :) Goodluck

  • I think there's something deeper than his flaws, do you have abandonment issues? or trust issues? or commitment issues? It is more inside your head, but I'll tell you this, when you find Mr. Right, his flaws will be beautiful to you and you will not only tolerate them, you will love them (:

    • I don't believe in such thing as Mr. Right... but you have given me a lot to think about regarding any trust/commitment issues I might have. Thanks!

  • I guess you have to change your perspective if this makes you unhappy to often. What's a good thing or a flaw, is your determination.

  • When you find the one with no flaws you should marry him. Might take you 20+ years though!!
