That's really sad. I find it tedious when you meet people who talk endlessly about their kids, but to hide them from people is awful. If anything ever happened between my husband and I and I started dating again I would tell people on the first date that I had kids and make it clear that if we were to ever get serious they would be part of the package. Not just because it's better to be honest but also because I'm proud of them and I love them, and I wouldn't be interested in any kind of relationship with someone who wasn't prepared to accept that my kids are the most important thing in my life. If that meant I didn't get laid much then whatever, it's really not that important in the grand scheme of things. You're a pretty shitty parent if you pretend they don't exist just in the hopes of getting some sex. That's such a depressing life for your kids.
You are spot on about how the children are supposed to come first no matter what. They're supposed to matter more than anything, yet they're being put aside by these desperate people. I wish more people had your mindset instead of being desperate.

Every one of my children was planned. I think that can make a difference. I made a conscious decision to bring them into the world. I guess if you're not very careful about contraception and keep accidentally having kids you have the option of taking it less seriously. But hey, no one is forcing you to have kids. You could use contraception or not have full sex lol...
My parents were a bit shit so I've always been very cognisant of the impact of parenting. I knew I never wanted to be like them and if I ever had babies I wouldn't let them down.
So in a weird way my terrible parents made me into a good parent lol.
