I guess it is normal in these circumstances, because it was a very special item which your grandma owned. I wear my grandmothers jewellery. It's nice to have things to remember them by.
But I don't know why you feel the need to wear it on your wedding finger. I wear an old, vintage wedding ring, but I wear it on my right hand. It just wouldn't be right at all to wear it on my wedding finger.
I don't think there's any need to deeply analyse or make theories as of why you feel a massive need to wear it on that finger. I think there's a lot more important things in life to worry about. But the fact is, if potential partners notice that on your finger, you could push people away immediately or attract the wrong sort of people. So wear it on another finger (you'll get used to the feeling) or continue to wear it on the current finger and potentially fuck things up, or not. Either way, this is absolutely no big deal.
